Athens, Greece

Greece had the great fortune to have the presence of Sister Denise, for the whole duration of the ONE week, 15-21 Sept. The program was followed by all the centers in Athens. The Main Center and the three sub-centers were open for meditation from 9-10am and 6-7pm every day. Each morning and evening there was guided meditation and a short introduction to the programme available, for the visitors .   A greek edition of the “ONE”
website was launched at one.brahmakumaris.gr  and so people could also tune-in digitally during the week. The events under the canopy of the ONE programme with Sister Denise were as follows: Monday, 15 September: Half-day retreat at the Kifissia center. With the topic “The Quantum Leap from Illusion to Reality”. 50 souls attended. On Thursday, 18 September Sr Denise gave a lecture in Athens’ main centre on the ‘Art of Contemplative thinking’ describing a hero’s quest to conquer his inner “monsters” and finally meet the ONE! 65 souls attended. On Friday there was a half-day
retreat at the center in Aghia Paraskevi. The topic was “Going to the Depth of ONE”. 40 souls attended. And on Sunday we had the Grand Finale, at the Athenaeum Intercontinental Hotel. About 200 people came, many attending a BK program for the first time. The title was “@onegod.theunlimited.server”. It was a very successful event and Sister Denise, in her inimitable manner, using science and technology parallels, was able to plant the seeds in peoples’ intellects of the reality of the existence of the ONE. It was very helpful, particularly now that the boat of Baba’s family in Greece crossed some rough seas, after Brother Anthony’s departure. Our hearts and minds were with him this very special week, which in any case was designed with him before he left for Brazil, and it felt as if he was still guiding us and giving us power for a successful ONE program.

We also organized group meditation sessions and we shared the experiences of the benefits of meditation and Being with One. President of the Toastmasters International addressed the audience during the close of the event. In a simple yet powerful way he summarised his talk with “It is a real art to be able to experience peace in the midst of chaos, and in today’s world, this is essential. When we practice meditation we strengthen ourselves and immensely help the world in which we live.”
